June 2010 Adventure

We were in Florida last week on a bit of business and decided to mix in a little pleasure. Here are some highlights from our trip:

  • 30 hours in the car, 5 states, 6 days, 1 cooler
  • We spent some time at Scott's Aunt Jo's home in Louisiana on our way out and way back to break up the trip. We enjoyed the best of the south - gumbo, crawfish ettoufee, frog catching, and hospitality
  • Tallahassee was our destination. It was a beautiful place. Thick forests of trees lined every city street. We've been offered an opportunity there. We may or may not take it. I'm thankful for this to guide us.
  • We stopped in Destin, Florida on our way home. No oil, thank goodness. We only spent a day there, but it was rejuvinating. I love the beach more than almost anything. We basked in the sun. One of us got completely fried. We swam in the ocean and at the hotel. We walked along the beach at sunset, gathered seashells, and looked for crabs in the water.
  • Library books, a dvd player, and Crayola Color Wonder markers were lifesavers, or at least sanity savers.
  • We are glad to be home

Suggestions

I'm taking suggestions for keeping this little one entertained on a 14 hour road trip. Any ideas?

Done

Scott checked out of the clinic today. We are officially DONE. It's been a wild ride, Parker. I don't have any thoughts on this today, just a feeling of complete relief.

Unwelcome Visitor

The croup has decided to make another unwelcome visit to the Serr household. I hate, hate, hate when Madeline has the croup. I realize as well as anyone that there are much more horrific health problems that children can have, but this is the one I despise the most out of the illnesses Madeline's had thus far in her short life.

I hate it because it is mostly a nighttime illness for her. I hate it because it keeps her up most of the night, which means it keeps me up most of the night. I hate it because she makes unreasonable requests in the night and I can't say no because crying makes her symptoms worse. I hate that she knows that and milks it for all it's worth. I hate that her symptoms usually last for many days.

Please croup, leave our home and never come back!

That Magic Number

Today the magic number has finally been reached.

200

And we've got a little something cooking as far as future plans go. More details to come if everything falls into place.
