Happy Easter 2011

The wireless internet connection to our computer is really spotty (not working more than it works), hence my infrequent posts. I have about zero patience when it comes to malfunctioning computers. Here, finally, are a few pics from Easter.

We enjoyed a really nice Easter season this year. This was the first time we attempted to dye eggs with Madeline. I envisioned it being much messier than it actually was. She loved every second of it. She even got to do it twice this year. Unfortunately, she came down with a freak 5 hour stomach flu the morning the Easter Bunny was scheduled to come, so we postponed the hunt until this evening. She didn't mind a bit that the Easter Bunny was a week late.

We spent Easter weekend in Logan with my parents and some of my siblings. It's become a lot more difficult to make it down there with our work schedule, so the trip was short but really nice. My parents invited some chinese students that work in my dad's department over for Easter dinner. One of the students lived with my parents for a time, and she's really become part of our family. We all dyed eggs after dinner because the girls had never seen that done before. It's been fun to learn about one another's cultures.

We are especially grateful this time of year for the resurrection of our Savior and for the signs of new life that Easter symbolizes. Trees and plants are just starting to blossom here, and I love the sense of renewal and beauty they bring. We are getting more and more exited for the new life that will join our family in just a few short weeks.

Why?

We've entered the world of WHY questions. I'm grateful our daughter's mind is developing well, but I'm pretty sure I don't say or do anything during my day without being questioned why. Anything. Why?

  • I don't know why.

  • Why don't you know?

  • I don't know.

  • But why?

  • Because. Just because.

Happenings

We had some different happenings last week. Scott and I took Madeline down to Logan last Saturday afternoon. My mother-in-law had to spend some time with her daughters in Boise, and we needed someone to watch Madeline so we could go into the office. My parents readily offered. My mom brought her back to us on Wednesday afternoon. Madeline had a blast with her Roper grandparents.

This little repose gave Scott and I a chance to get a lot done! We had a LONG to-do list on Monday, and were able to check off everything on it. On Tuesday we spent the day in Twin Falls attending the temple, having a little lunch date, and shopping. It was really nice not having to worry about car entertainment and nap schedules.

Lest you worry we enjoyed our childless days a little too much, I found that I really started to miss our little munchkin. I was so happy to have her home on Wednesday!

Friday was April Fools' Day, which has some special significance in our family. Scott proposed to me on that day six years ago. He says he did chose that day so he would have an out in case I said "no", but I don't buy it. Madeline's getting old enough to understand jokes, so we had a little fun with it this year. We made silly cupcakes I saw here. They actually turned out pretty cute. We played a joke on grandpa by filling our glasses with jello for lunch. Madeline thought that was hilarious, and she was really good at not spilling the beans.

We discovered a walking path last week that runs along the snake river. It's my new favorite place in town. They are building a new subdivision adjacent to the path, and I dream of living there some day. I don't love that we have to drive to get to the path (unlike Dallas), but I think as it warms up we will try to be frequent visitors.

The cupcakes we tried to copy. I think ours were pretty darn close.
