I have been wracking my brain this week trying to find things to occupy Madeline's time in the mornings since she's decided not to take morning naps. It seems like each activity only lasts 10 minutes. There are many, many 10 minute intervals to fill in the 6 1/2 hours of morning. Perhaps the most precious thing I have lost in this schedule change is time to shower and get ready all by myself. When Madeline is in the bathroom while I shower she usually spends most of the time trying to climb into the shower with me.
Yesterday I decided to get out my nail polish bin for her to play with on the bathroom floor while I was in the shower. She's played with the little bottles before and we've never had a problem. I poked my head out of the shower several times to check on her. But, while I was shaving my second leg I noticed that she was being much to quiet. I opened the shower curtain and saw her sitting on the ground with bright red nail polish on all of her fingers, a drop on her lip, a couple drops on her leg, and one small drop on the floor. I got out of the shower, grabbed her hands so she wouldn't touch anything, and scrubbed them with nail polish remover. Somehow she had unscrewed the top of the nail polish bottle. I had no idea she knew how to do that! Luckily there wasn't a single spot on the new outfit my mom had just sent her.
I forgot to clean the two spots on her thigh, and throughout the day I kept pointing at them and asking her what happened. She was so funny - she kept pulling her skirt down to cover them. She does the same thing when she skins her knee. I guess she can't stand to look at any blemishes on her body. Good luck when your a teenager, baby!

Good thing you caught her early, before she'd wiped it around. I'm glad to hear that it ended alright. What a silly girl!
