ANTS!!!

If there is anything I truly HATE about Texas it is fireants. They are horrible little creatures who seem to exist simply to torment me. Before we moved here I had no idea that there were ants that could bite. People and ants coexisted peacefully in Wisconsin (unless they got in the way of my pyro brother's magnifying glass). I didn't bother them; they didn't bother me. I thought the same way of life would apply in Texas, until one bit me. It was way worse than a mosquito bite and itched like crazy. My whole foot swelled up. I still have a scar from that first bite. My truce with the ants ended. They tried to take over our apartment our first summer in Texas. We had to wear shoes at all times. We had pest control spray our apartment twice, but to no avail. Finally, we heard of an easy home remedy from Scott's mom. We tried it, and won. We mixed equal parts sugar and borax, and sprinkled it all over our carpet. Three days later we were ant-free.

The ants are back this summer. I've been vaccuuming at least once a day, but with a toddler it's hard to keep our apartment 100% free from crumbs. The ants are attacking my toes this year, and I have phantom itches on my feet all of the time. It's time to pull out the home remedy powder and win our apartment back again!

Are you referring to Brad as the pyro brother? I can just see it! That sounds awful. Hope that home remedy works for you again this summer!

We had trouble with ants a few months ago, it was awful. We found out they were living under our carpet so the pest control man had to pull up our carpet to spray. If they come back I may be getting some home remedy info from you.
