We've had a sick little girl at our house these past couple of days. She's now on the road to recovery, which unfortunately is more difficult to deal with in some ways.
When I woke up from my nap on Sunday morning, Madeline was fussy and had a fever. She's currently cutting four molars, so I thought that was probably the issue.
Then, she was up a lot in the night and woke up with lovely gastroenteritis symptoms. Although she didn't feel well al all, and that made me sad, I had a pretty enjoyable day of snuggling with her. I was almost like taking care of a newborn again. I was up in the night with her, changed her diaper frequently, and spent the day rocking and laying on the couch with her. And, she actually has the ability to be affectionate now, unlike those newborn days. I think it was the raging postpartum hormones that made those days and weeks so difficult for me. I realized yesterday that nighttime sleep deprivation really isn't too bad as long as you can nap during the day.
She seems to be feeling a little better today, which means she feels too good to lie on the couch and sleep, but bad enough that she wants to cry and be held ALL DAY LONG. I can't wait to have my healthy, happy little girl back.
I did learn one good lesson from this yesterday: Pedialyte is something one needs to have on hand, because when you need it you can't go to the store to buy it (Thanks for helping us out of that bind, Katie!).

I hope she's feeling much better now! Sounds like it was fun for you to get to snuggle with her, though.
